Art Toronto 2026
Art Toronto returns to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from October 29 to November 1, 2026, for its 27th edition. Canada’s leading international fair for modern and contemporary art will bring together 105 galleries, organizations and cultural institutions from across Canada, the United States, Latin America and Europe, presenting thousands of works by emerging and established artists across painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, installation and new media. Highlights include the return of Arte Sur, featuring 11 galleries from Mexico, Central America and South America, as well as Solo presentations dedicated to individual artists and new programming for emerging collectors. Nearly one-third of participating galleries will present work by Indigenous artists. Visitors can also take part in curator-led tours, Platform Talks and educational programming designed to make collecting more accessible. 14th Annual Latin Festival
The two-day celebration will feature live Latin music, traditional folk dancers, cultural workshops and family-friendly activities, offering audiences an opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of Latin American heritage. The festival will also feature community information tables showcasing local community organizations, groups and services, providing visitors with valuable information, resources and opportunities available to the community. “These days, it's pretty much a given that a hit film will get a follow-up of sorts. In 1931, when James Whale's Frankenstein was breaking all kinds of box office records and establishing Universal Studios as a major force, the rules weren't so clearly laid out. The studio wasn't really too sure how this softly-spoken British director had made such an incredible, ground-breaking horror movie in the first place. And, as he was clearly on a roll following his hit with The Invisible Man and The Old Dark House , the studio pretty much let him get on with the sequel as he saw fit. Bride of Frankenstein is a wild ride, even today. It flits between the classical and the gutter, the camp and the serious in a manner that's hard to pin down. Boris Karloff is brought back as the monster, this time with dialogue (audiences would have expected no less), and Colin Clive returns as the Doctor, recast by Whale for his inimitable "hysterical quality", despite his worsening alcoholism. What the audience wouldn't or couldn't have anticipated was Ernest Thesiger's wonderfully fey and flamboyant Dr Septimus Pretorius (the studio wanted—but didn't get—Claude Rains), and his experimental royal family of homunculi, and Elsa Lanchester in her vertical hairdo, complete with bleached lightning bolts. Once Upon a Time in Harlem
A decade after his death, one of the most significant and compelling filmmakers of the past century has one last trick up his sleeve: a trove of never-before-seen footage that he believed to be the most important he ever filmed. Genre-defying director William Greaves searches for the divine origins of his own creativity at a cocktail party he masterminded in 1972 for the living luminaries of the Harlem Renaissance. On a summer evening in 1972, a pivotal generation of Harlem Renaissance artists and intellectuals gathered at Duke Ellington’s townhouse. For over three hours, this extraordinary group—many of whom had not seen each other in fifty years—reminisced, critiqued, argued, laughed, and drank while wrestling with their place in a rapidly shifting cultural landscape. Shot on 16mm film and newly restored, William Greaves’ historic, cinema verité footage is at the heart of a new documentary film that will explore the role of the artist, the value of art in society, and the divine alchemy that led to one of the most vibrant periods in modern cultural history: The Harlem Renaissance. The Mississauga Animal Services Shelter is asking residents to help shelter animals find loving homes during their fall Adopt-a-thon. From November 2 to 14, Monday to Saturday, all dogs and cats at the shelter can be adopted for just $25, plus HST and any applicable pet licence fees for Mississauga residents. This reduced rate offers significant savings compared to regular adoption fees, which are typically $280 plus HST for dogs and puppies and up to $190 plus HST for cats and kittens. All cats and dogs available for adoption have received basic medical care, including vaccines and spay or neuter surgery. This can help save you money on the initial costs of pet ownership. Thai cooking is all about contrast and harmony, bringing together sweet, sour, salty, spicy, and savoury flavours with fresh aromatics and carefully balanced sauces. In this fun, hands-on workshop you'll learn about the authentic ingredients and techniques behind classic Thai street food dishes that have become favourites on restaurant menus around the world: Pad Thai (Thai-style stir-fried rice noodles), Cha Yen (Thai iced tea), and Khao Niao Mamuang (mango sticky rice). Veteran Thai Chef Piriya Murrell leads this immersive, hands-on cooking class as she walks you through the step-by-step preparation of these classic Thai dishes. You'll enjoy a shared meal, and leave with recipes, new skills, and extra Pad Thai sauce to take home. —– Pad Thai Sauce (ผัดไทย ซ็อต) The key to a great Pad Thai is a richly flavoured, well-balanced sauce that incorporates the essential elements of Thai cooking: sweet, sour, salty, and savoury umami. You'll learn how to work with ingredients like tamarind, fish sauce, sugar, and shallots to build a versatile sauce that you'll use to make your Pad Thai, with extra to take home. (Bring a jar or container!) Pad Thai (Thai-style stir fry noodles) (ผัดไทย) Pad Thai has become one of Thailand’s most beloved and iconic dishes, despite being a relatively recent, 20th century addition to the cuisine. Post-WWII rice shortages led to more noodle dishes on menus, and this local interpretation of an old, Chinese immigrant recipe quickly became a street food staple. This stir-fried rice noodle dish reflects the creativity and adaptability of Thai street food, combining rice noodles with various proteins (meat or vegetarian), fragrant aromatics, spicy chiles, fresh vegetables and herbs, and the nutty crunch of toasted peanuts, all combined strategically with the complex and addictive prepared sauce. Even with its many individual elements, Pad Thai comes together in a matter of minutes once everything is prepared in advance and assembled in order. Timing and sequence are key, so everyone will get a chance to practice while assembling their own dish. *We will use chicken or tofu for non-meat eaters. Cha Yen (Thai iced tea) (ชาเย็น) The bright orange staple of Thai restaurants (mostly outside of Thailand where this version of the drink has taken the strongest hold) reflects a fascinating crossroads of trade and globalization. The Chinese influence of tea and tea culture blends seamlessly with the import of dairy from Europe (sometimes in the form of condensed or evaporated milk, but often with milk or cream) to make a rich, refreshing beverage that pairs wonderfully with the unctuous sauces and spice of Thai dishes. Piriya will demonstrate how to brew and blend this iconic drink at home. Khao Niao Mamuang (mango sticky rice) (ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง) A traditional Southeast Asian dessert made from sweet glutinous rice, rich coconut milk, and fresh, ripe mango.
